Our History

  • 1990 Founder's Day
    Founder's Day

    After a successful career at large corporations, Mary Gawlicki followed her mother's entrepreneurial spirit and founded Corporate Translations. The company officially began operating on April 1, 1990, specifically to fulfill the life science industry’s demand for high quality translation solutions. Shortly after, Ted Gawlicki joined the company as her business partner and spouse. Together, in their home, they created a business plan for growth and acquired their very first customer; Bristol-Myers Squibb.

    Continued Success

    Corporate Translations demonstrated to the life sciences industry its ability to provide high quality translation solutions. Their newly recognized reputation and additional personnel resulted in two expansions and relocation's to its first professional office buildings in the Mansfield, CT area.

  • 2006 Bringing Innovation to Greater Hartford & Chicago
    Bringing Innovation to Greater Hartford & Chicago

    Corporate Translations' growing client base and its industry position as the leading provider of linguistic validation services, necessitated its relocation to a larger office building in East Hartford, CT and a new office in Chicago, IL. At this time, Corporate Translations staff nearly doubled while it continued to build upon its leading position as a high quality language service provider for the life science industry.

  • 2003 Linguistic Validation Pioneers
    Linguistic Validation Pioneers

    In collaboration with one of its customers from a leading pharmaceutical company and a well-known instrument developer, Corporate Translations began to develop a process for translating Quality of Life questionnaires, now known as Clinical Outcomes Assessments (COAs) based on a draft guidance from the FDA.

  • 2008 ISO Certified Quality
    ISO Certified Quality

    As the life science industry's vendor selection criteria became more strict, Corporate Translations was the first language service provider to become certified to ISO 9001 for both translation and linguistic validation processes. The company intelligently implemented its Client Relationship Management system in tandem with its Quality Management System, integrating and enforcing key elements of the ISO standards seamlessly into its production workflow.

  • 2009 Establishing Best Practices
    Establishing Best Practices

    Mary Gawlicki served as one of the members of the ISPOR Task Force on Changing Language and Culture of an Application which published recommendations for the use and adaptation of PROs in multinational clinical trials. Corporate Translations also refined its linguistic validation process to ensure adherence to the 2009 FDA Guidance on PROs and ISPOR's "Principles of Good Practice for the Translation and Adaptation of PRO Measures". Additionally, in response to its increased global presence, Corporate Translations upgraded its Quality Management System for certification to EN 15038:2006 and the new ISO 9001:2008 standard in both translation and linguistic validation processes.

    Corporate Translations expands its global footprint into Osaka, Japan, one of the major hubs for the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies and Eskişehir, Turkey, strengthening existing international relationships while providing round-the-clock access to our services.

  • 2012 A Year of Progress
    A Year of Progress

    2012 was a busy year for Corporate Translations. The company opened another international office based within the heart of BioCity, Nottingham, United Kingdom’s scientific hub. The Advertising Club of Connecticut presented Corporate Translations a Silver award for the best B2B integrated marketing campaign featuring large punctuation marks over an intense blue backdrop. The headlines intelligently play off of each punctuation mark and speak directly to pharmaceutical professionals who are responsible for running global clinical trials. Its highly committed and devoted employees nominated Corporate Translations as one of Hartford's Top Workplaces and out of 649 organizations, Corporate Translations made the Top 20!

  • 2014 All About Quality
    All About Quality

    Corporate Translations receives silver level Innovation Honor from the Connecticut Quality Improvement Award for the advancement of its linguistic validation services. Additionally, the company extends the scope of its highly sophisticated Quality Management System to include certification to ISO 13485:2003, which governs their medical device translations. The company's Quality Management System was audited by several of its clients and rated as exceptional.

    Silver Anniversary

    Corporate Translations reaches its 25th Year of Innovation and Service to the Life Sciences industry! In addition, the company is named the 6th largest Women's Business Enterprise in Connecticut by the Hartford Business Journal.

    Proud Member of the RWS Group

    In October of 2015, Corporate Translations became a proud member of the RWS Group. The RWS Group is a publicly traded company located in the UK. They are the world’s 7th largest language service provider and the market leader in the translation of patents. The purchase of Corporate Translations gives RWS the same leadership position in the Life Sciences.
